UK Jazz, Funk, and Hip Hop masters return to the capital

The Herbaliser expanded their set up to a full 10 piece band and began touring the globe, and have been winning over festival audiences far and wide for over a decade, Their fascinating ability to create timeless soul records one minute, then to delve deep into the dark, grittiness of Jazz and funk the next is not a skill that should be overlooked!

Their impressive discography of 11 albums ranges from 1995’s ‘Remedies’ on Ninja Tune to 2012’s ‘There Were Seven’ which was released on their own label, Department H. The past decade and a half has seen collaborations with MF DOOM, Jean Grae, Roots Manuva and Phi Life Cypher to name just a few, plus mixes for the Fabric Live mix Series and the Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel series.

It’s not every day that you come across a duo like Jake Wherry and Ollie Teeba. They’ve been working together for over a decade and continue to progress and improve, to excel in the competitive world of hip hop production and beyond.

Jake Wherry grew up in South West London. A diet of jazz and James Brown provided the soundtrack of his childhood and teenage years, before he naturally found himself getting into rare groove and old school hiphop and played guitar and bass in many jazz, funk and rock bands. Ollie Teeba, meanwhile, was strictly about the hip hop. He began DJing at 15, was playing out in London within a year and, in between, was to be found collecting sneakers.
