Emerging in the late ’90s like a storm through the post-Britpop scene, The Libertines introduced a fresh wave of London bohemianism with their gritty tunes, red military jackets, and the reckless “live now, pay never” ethos that defined early 2000s angst. At the heart of the band is the electric, brotherly bond between Pete Doherty and Carl Barat, the raw Jagger/Richards duo of their generation, supported by the solid rhythm section of John Hassall and Gary Powell.
