Pantha du Prince: Conference of Trees

From £19.50 plus booking fee

Due to the ongoing state of affairs and current advice against public gatherings, the Pantha du Prince: Conference of Trees show will be postponed from Saturday 28th March to Friday 25th September. All original tickets will remain valid for the new date.

Techno musician Pantha Du Prince (aka Hendrik Weber) lends a musical voice to tree life with this audio-visual piece, combining modified acoustic bodies of sound, instruments and electronics.

This is a new performance of music and visuals as part of his incredibly unique project Conference of Trees. Composed and written for an ensemble of musicians, Conference of Trees undertakes a number of sound experiments to give resonance to the communication of trees. The live ensemble use hand-crafted instruments to explore the sonic characteristics of different woods amid an immersive stage setting, combining avant-techno, visual poetics and speculative science.

Trees have been the subject of countless pieces of music, but here Pantha Du Prince allows the trees to speak for themselves. Inspired by writings by Georg Friedrich Bernhard Riemann, Farid ud Din Attar, and Frantisek Baluska, Conference of Trees is a gorgeous articulation of the unheard dialogue of trees – and a reminder of their importance to our ecosystem.

This is part of the album launch tour for the new Conference of Trees album, released on the 6th of March 2020.

Support on the night will come from the talented Catching Flies along with Bendik HK.
The music of Catching Flies – aka multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ George King – is a bass-heavy yet melodic mesh of broody electronics and intricate rhythms, containing shades of everything from hip-hop to house, soul to jazz. His debut album, released last year, was awarded album of the month by Future Music and given high praise for both its composition and production.
Bendik HK (Bendik Hovik Kjeldsberg) is best known for being one of Norway’s most skilled and sought after drummers, whose progressive production revolves around melodic structures, rhythm and soundscapes.
