Techno musician Pantha Du Prince (aka Hendrik Weber) lends a musical voice to tree life with this audio-visual piece, combining modified acoustic bodies of sound, instruments and electronics.
This is a new performance of music and visuals as part of his incredibly unique project Conference of Trees. Composed and written for an ensemble of musicians, Conference of Trees undertakes a number of sound experiments to give resonance to the communication of trees. The live ensemble use hand-crafted instruments to explore the sonic characteristics of different woods amid an immersive stage setting, combining avant-techno, visual poetics and speculative science.
Trees have been the subject of countless pieces of music, but here Pantha Du Prince allows the trees to speak for themselves. Inspired by writings by Georg Friedrich Bernhard Riemann, Farid ud Din Attar, and Frantisek Baluska, Conference of Trees is a gorgeous articulation of the unheard dialogue of trees – and a reminder of their importance to our ecosystem.
