George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic

From £29.50 plus booking fee

Funk pioneer George Clinton bids goodbye to the UK with a series of special farewell concerts with Parliament Funkadelic, marking the end of a 50 plus year career funkin’ around the world.

Despite being awarded the lifetime achievement Grammy, George has decided it’s not yet over and will be gracing the UK with his funk-presence, one last time.

Hear the music that took Funk to new heights with Clinton’s blend of Jazz, Rock, Pop and Gospel. A sound so unique it became easily identifiable and affectionately known as ‘P.funk’ – gathering complete recognition and acceptance as a true genre in itself.

Drawing inspiration from Motown’s assembly line of sound, Clinton put together a collective of over 50 musicians and recorded the ensemble as both Parliament and Funkadelic. While Funkadelic pursued band-format psychedelic rock, Parliament engaged in funk free-for-all, blending influences from the godfathers (James Brown and Sly Stone) with freaky costumes and themes inspired by the ’60s acid culture and science fiction.

Alongside icons such as James Brown and Sly Stone, George Clinton is synonymous with defining a genre, creating a music movement which is as important now as its inception in the 1970s.

“…Funk’s psychedelic elder statesman Clinton sounds as futuristic as ever in a marathon three-hour aerobics party” –The Guardian

“…as live and electrifying a performance as I have ever been fortunate enough to witness, a wild and joyous groove miasma that still sounds like a dispatch from the future.” -The Telegraph
