Celebrating the rise of UK’s domineering UK Jazz scene

The Shape Of Sound To Come is a unique series of curated events by promoters Bam!Bam!Bam! and Soundcrash, celebrating the rise of the UK’s domineering UK jazz scene. The first edition features three powerhouses of the new movement, including Nubya Garcia, Vels Trio, and Emma Jean Thackray.

Nubya Garcia

Winner of this year’s Jazz FM Breakthrough Artist Award, Nubya Garcia is one of the leading forces behind the resurgence of jazz-influenced sounds taking over dance floors across the UK. Her brand of afro-tinged Jazz has made her a key component in this vibrant scene and has seen her championed across

“she doesn’t sing but she soars.” The Guardian

Vels Trio*

Being almost indistinguishable by any sole genre, the group’s mutual loves and individual fortes across prog, electronic, jazz, funk and hip-hop has paved the collective way for their early sound.

“…dreamy space-jam, mixing up fragments of fusiony riffs with big washes of electronic sound to dramatic and very contemporary effect that borrows from jazz, rock, hip hop and funk without sounding like any of the above.” Jazzwise Magazine

Emma Jean Thackray*

One of the most hyped artists of the new UK jazz scene. Emma-Jean Thackray is an award winning composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist – known especially for her trumpeting – who’s influenced by everything from J Dilla beats and Madlib’s characters to the sounds of Afrobeat.

“Emma-Jean Thackray will blow your socks off” Red Bull Music
