Founded in 2008, by Manchester-based trumpeter, composer and producer Matthew Halsall, Gondwana Records, turns 10 this autumn. Originally founded to shine a light on the Manchester scene, Gondwana Records is one of the UKs most influential jazz (and beyond) record labels, launching GoGo Penguin on the world and now home to an international roster featuring artists from as far afield as Los Angeles and Melbourne, Australia.

Tonight’s very special show features performances from established stars alongside exciting new talent as Gondwana Records takes over one of the UK’s most iconic venues.

Headlining the main-stage are Mercury nominated, jazz-minimalists Portico Quartet from London, the ethereal folk and trance influenced Mammal Hands from Norwich, powerful electro-soul outfit Noya Rao from Leeds and a rare performance from Matthew Halsall & The Gondwana Orchestra performing his trademark rain-streaked spiritual jazz from Manchester. The Sackler Studio stage will feature rising-star singer-songwriter Caoilfhionn (pronounced Keelin) Rose from Manchester, brilliant jazz and hip-hop influenced poet, singer and keyboardist Allysha Joy from Melbourne, legendary composer and one-time Cinematic Orchestra bassist Phil France and a head-lining slot from the remarkable Belgian five-piece Stuff. mashing jazz, hip-hop and everything else into their own remarkable stew.  Elsewhere the Torquil Stage will feature pop-up performances from Caoilfhionn Rose, John Ellis, koto player Keiko Kitamura and members of The Gondwana Orchestra performing a very special spiritual jazz set alongside DJ sets from Gondwana DJs, Worldwide FM DJ Tina Edwards and Paul Bradshaw of Straight No Chaser fame.
