Wovoka Gentle is a British folk/acoustic trio comprising twins Imogen Mason and Ellie Mason together with William J. Stokes.
With roots in folk and Americana songwriting, the Wovoka sound draws upon the psychedelic soundscapes of the late 60s as well as contemporary experimental, pop and collage music; marrying classic instrumentation with sampling, analogue synthesis and sound manipulation.
One of the most alluring components of their sound is their near-perfect vocal harmonies, where the intimacy of its members becomes evident. There’s a hymn-like resonance in these moments, which is echoed lyrically as the band deftly tackle religious themes of prayer, sin and redemption.
Having signed to the iconic Nude Records in early 2018, Wovoka Gentle have now released debut album ‘Start Clanging Cymbals’ on the 7th June 2019.
