Breathtaking spoken word with groundbreaking jazz

At Hangar, spoken word poet and saxophonist Alabaster dePlume will be bringing Peach, his finely honed act, for a night of thought provoking words.

Formerly hosted at Total Refreshment Centre, Peach brings new bands together each month to create experimental pop music that delves into eastern-influenced anthems and spoken elements in an attempt to challenge and address divisive rhetoric recently prevalent in society. This session sees musicians Hannah Miller (Moulettes) on cello and vocals, Donna Thompson (Bellatrix) on drums and vocals, Danalogue (Soccer96 + Comet Is Coming) on sythns, and Sarathy Korwar on drums and tabla join Alabaster.

Support for this night comes from the brilliant and diversely skilled Bellatrix, a fast rising singer and songwriter who also happens to be a guildhall trained double bassist and former world beatboxing champion. Citing influences from Bjork to Sun Ra, the quirky artist has self released two blisteringly inventive EP’s, both of which have won her serious acclaim from tastemaker critics and airplay on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music, and Amazing Radio.

In addition to this already impressive line up, Worldwide FM Dj Tina Edwards and Total Refreshment Centre + Church of Sound‘s Lexus Blondin will be spinning records to keep the music going.

A truly special evening.
